The Dayton Daily News’ Barbara Kedziora took the above photos of a cicada nymph. Nymphs will emerge from the ground during the next few weeks and climb vertical surfaces before molting into adults.
The cicadas are generally harmless, but they will make a lot of noise and could overrun some trees.
Experts expected the cicadas to arrive in mid-May and last a few weeks.
